Buma ROCKS! presents Heavy Panel at Eurosonic Noorderslag Conference 2017

Buma ROCKS! traditionally hosted the Heavy Panel during the Eurosonic Noorderslag Conference in Groningen in January. On Thursday 12 January the Heavy Panel featured booking agents from the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium. Before a packed basement room they discussed the path to success in the world of metal and hard rock. How do they get the music to the masses?

Panel speakers were John Giulio Sprich, co-founder and programmer of The Euroblast Festival in Cologne (DE). He is also co-founder of the Euroblast Collective, a network consisting of artist managers, PR specialist and bookers in the genre of progressive rock and metal. As an artist manager he is working with bands such as VOLA (DK), The Algorithm (FR) and Humanity’s Last Breath (SE).
Jef Verheijen owns a company in Belgium called Rock The Fox, running artist management for a.o. The Vintage Caravan (ISL), Off The Cross (BE) and pop band Nele Needs A Holiday (BE). For the Belgian territory Jef takes care of booking the likes of DeWolff, Birth Of Joy, Spoil Engine, Dead Lord and many others.

Wietze Halma is a booking agent at Loud Noise from The Netherlands. Besides contributing to festivals like Dynamo Metal Fest, Into The Grave and The Sound Of Revolution, his current European roster consists of bands like Scar Symmetry (SE), Hell (UK), MayaN (NL) and Severe Torture (NL). Wietze is responsible for booking shows in The Netherlands for Tarja Turunen (FI) and many other artists.

And then there was the Buma ROCKS! Wheel of Steel Rock Quiz in between panels during the Eurosonic Noorderslag Conference on Thursday, Friday and Saturday afternoon, 12 - 14 January @ Oosterpoort. Spectators saw teams from as varied backgrounds as Paaspop, Loud Noise, Wacken Open Air, VVD, Buma/Stemra and Duycker battle each other.
