Alex Agnew - Keynote Speech & Heavy Track

Alex Agnew is well-known in the Benelux as the singer for Antwerp metalband Diablo Blvd. Besides that he got his breakthrough as a stand-up comedian by winning the prestigious Leids Cabaret Festival in 2003. A combination of artistic expression that might drive Alex insane if he weren't doubling as a super hero in the world of comics.

Daniel P. Carter - Playing the media & Heavy Track

BBC Radio 1 DJ Daniel P. Carter is well-known through his immensely popular Rock Show on Sunday night. He has grown up through the UK emo and hardcore scenes, putting on shows and playing in bands like A, The Lucky Nine and presently Krokodil. In his Rock Show he features lots of new music, ranging from pop punk to extreme metal.

Thomas Jensen - Beyond Wacken

Thomas Jensen is co-director of Wacken Open Air. This insanely popular metal festival started as a wild idea of Thomas and his friend Holger Hübner, and has grown from 6 bands/800 visitors in 1990 to 158 bands/84.500 visitors in 2015. Jensen and Hübner have built a flourishing company on Wacken’s success: ICS Network. They are active in many fields, amongst which metal festivals like Full Metal Cruise, Wacken Roadshow, Full Metal Mountain, Wacken Winter Nights, the yet to be realised Full Metal Ibiza and conference Hamburg Metal Dayz during the Reeperbahn festival. As of 2009, the non-profit Wacken Foundation is supporting ambitious bands and even festivals in their development.

Luc Favié - Development of a live act

Luc Favié is based in Cologne in Germany nowadays, but he started out in the music business as local house promoter/booker in a 500 capacity venue in Weert, The Netherlands, booking national and international rock and metal acts. At that point he also started to build up his own underground booking agency, booking extreme metal bands like: Macabre, Brutal Truth, Exhumed, MOD, Pig Destroyer and many others.
During this period he also worked together a few times with Creative Director Dominik Meyer at RTN-touring. When the time was right and RTN-touring was searching for new agents, Luc got contacted by Dominik Meyer to start as a booking agent at RTN-touring. Luc built up his own roster under RTN-touring and books bands like Carach Angren, Conan, Dead Lord, Dool, Entombed A.D., Firespawn, Hate Eternal, Inquisition, Misery Index, Psychotic Waltz, Rotting Christ, Shining, Swallow The Sun and Tribulation.

Bindu De Knock - See you in court

Bindu De Knock hails from Belgium, but she is working as a lawyer at Bergh Stoop & Sanders in Amsterdam, specializing in Intellectual Property. She has worked on several cases within the music industry. At SAE Institute (School of Audio Engineering) she teaches about legal issues for musicians. An active musician and producer herself, she published Noot Voor Noot in 2015, a book that serves both as an introduction to all matters concerning copyright for musicians and an introduction to musical terminology for jurists. At Buma ROCKS! she will dig into the recent Led Zeppelin vs Spirit lawsuit and give insights into unexpected revenue possibilities for rockers in an age where dance music seems to be everyone's favorite cash cow.

Julia Frank - Development of a live act

As the Senior Executive Manager Touring of Wizard Promotions, Julia Frank has worked with a great number of heavy acts. Wizard Promotions Co. Ltd. was established in Frankfurt in January 2004. One of Germany’s leading concert agencies, the company has since been promoting the live performances of artists such as U2, Iron Maiden, Kiss, Adele, Lady Gaga, Zucchero, Bon Jovi, Sting, Eric Clapton, Ozzy Osbourne, Metallica, Slayer and Exodus. Led by German rock industry legend Ossy Hoppe and his son Oliver, Wizard Promotions has a clear focus on the area of new talent as well, staging 2016 tours for bands like Beartooth, Monolord, Despite Everything and Blood Ceremony.

Horst Vonberg - Playing the media

When his radio show of the same name died in the year 2000, Horst Vonberg started website Lords of Metal, one of the first serious metal blogs in the Netherlands. Sixteen years later he has dozens of writers contributing thousands of reviews and interviews each year. While overseeing his kingdom, Horst makes sure to cherrypick some battles of his own now and then, with a preference for speed/thrash/power metal.

Ben Hylands - Development of a live act

Ben Hylands founded Inspired Artists Agency in 2008. Now a team of 4, they are working from their sunny seaside office in Brighton, UK. Ben has worked across radio production, touring, promoting, PR and artist management. Inspired Artists Agency work across the genres booking tours and festivals world wide. Ben looks after GUN, The Crazy World of Arthur Brown, Lawnmower Deth, 4Arm, Electric Mary and Phil Campbell’s All Star Band. A new band on IAA's roster is Forever Never, who have been featured extensively in Kerrang! magazine this year, with their video playlisted on MTV Rocks, Kerrang! TV, and Scuzz and a new EP coming out this summer.

Holger Stratmann - Playing the media

Holger Stratmann is the managing director of Rock Hard, one of Europe´s most exciting media brands focusing on all types of heavy music. The Rock'n'Roll Publishing House - still independent to the bone - is active in various areas. Besides the popular print magazine, Rock Hard organises a renowned festival and invests in digital publishing (website, app) and e-commerce. Holger Stratmann is also known as journalist, photographer, book author and producer of a series of live recordings.

Tjerk Maas - Development of a live act

Tjerk Maas has quite a varied track record in the world of Dutch metal and rock. He is the owner and principal booking agent at agency Loud Noise, which he founded in 1998. As the singer for Outburst he graced the stages of many clubs and festivals until 2012, up to Ozzfest and the Milwaukee Metalfest. For over ten years he was the to-go-to singer for various metal/hardrock tributes. He has been the promoter of the Metal Matinees in Tilburg's 013 venue. Together with the Mascot Label Group he started Six Concerts in 2006, booking Volbeat's first tours.
He wrote articles and reviews about metal in local Tilburg newspapers and for LiveXS magazine. Last but not least: from 1994 until 1998 he presented his own rock show at a local radio station. In 2015 Loud Noise teamed up with Paul van Berlo, the man behind metal festival Into The Grave. Their festivals include Dynamo Metalfest (Eindhoven), Into The Grave (Leeuwarden), Into The Void (Leeuwarden) and Cityrock (Leeuwarden). As a booking agency, Loud Noise takes care of artists like Vandenberg’s Moonkings, Metal Church and up-and-coming acts Vektor and Noctum.

Saïd Al-Haddad - Playing the media

Saïd Al-Haddad has been working at radio station FM Brussel 98.8 since 2004. Next to his job as a reporter, editor and producer he is putting together metal radio show MENTAL on fmbrussel.be. Presented in three languages (FR/NL/EN), MENTAL features lots of new heavy music, with the Belgian scene as its main focus.

Nathan Barley Phillips - Heavy Track

As A&R Director for Invictus Music & Media, Nathan Barley Phillips formed BASICK RECORDS in 2005 and set about the task of developing a forward thinking record label for heavy music. Releasing early material from emerging UK bands such as Enter Shikari and Fellsilent, the BASICK label soon became synonymous with the cutting edge of heavy music, going on to put out seminal records from Misery Signals, Bury Tomorrow, SikTh, The Algorithm, Skyharbor, Ion Dissonance and Devil Sold His Soul among many others.
Now a fully-fledged international record label celebrating its 10th birthday this Summer, BASICK continues to be one of the forerunners in its genre.

Gunnar Sauermann - Heavy Track

Gunnar Sauermann has studied iron age and early medieval archaeology as well as comparative linguistics in Marburg, Germany and took a degree in Celtic Studies in Dublin, Ireland. For more than fifteen years, he has been a freelance writer mainly for the German edition of Metal Hammer as well as others – and continues to do so. Gunnar also joined Season of Mist as international promoter and is swiftly getting close to his 10th anniversary at the French label.

Ruud Hoevenaar - Taking care of Rock Business

2016 brings uncertainty with new tax rules and new contract forms for independent Dutch workers and artists. Ruud Hoevenaar, a seasoned tax lawyer and Rock Academy teacher, will give a heads up to rock musicians who are stepping into the wonderful world of taxes, tax refunds and write-offs. Besides that, Ruud will offer his 5 most important tax deduction tips - for free!
